The Opportunity

 

We are looking for an experienced technical professional with a focus on Data Security.  This is an important role for an experienced member of a team to take ownership of all matters related to information security within the company, across software development, hosting and data processing. It is a high-profile role with significant impact.

 

Main responsibility would be to help embed industry best practice for data security across this rapidly growing organization with offices in 10 countries around the world. This is a challenging, exciting role for someone passionate about data security in all its many forms.  This role would particularly suit someone who wants to become part of the growth area of data security and who would like to become a practicing expert in the field.  The ideal candidate does NOT have to be a software developer, though may have that in their background (indeed this could be advantageous to allow meaningful dialogue with other software developers). It would, for example, suit a former technical project manager who is looking to move into a more specific role as well of course someone already in a Data Security, Information Processing or Technical Compliance role.

 

Location: Berlin or London (some travel between those cities and potentially to other global offices will be required). Some remote work is also possible in this role.

 

Reporting to: Global Director of Technology Services

 

 

Main Tasks:

 

  • Review, analyze and advise on matters of data security across internal projects, including software development projects and day-to-day electronic data processing.
  • Identify data security risks and design processes to remove them and/or minimize their impact
  • Create documented working processes which address data security concerns
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to improve understanding of data security, its risks and solutions
  • Be a single point of contact regarding GDPR enquiries and obligations

Requirements

Profiles we are seeking

 

  • Experience of working in a personal-data intense environment
  • Experience of software development
  • Knowledge of GDPR (more training will be offered if required)
  • Experience in an agile environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with both stakeholders, developers and other team members in writing and in person
  • Familiarity to with iterative approach to development, e.g. Agile
  • Strong English language skills

 

The ideal candidate will also have:

 

  • Detailed knowledge of GDPR
  • Experience with data security testing, including penetration and vulnerability testing
  • Knowledge of working with SQL and RDBMS
  • A small amount of coding experience in a modern software development language, e.g. Javascript, Ruby, Python etc.
