The opportunity 

As a Senior Accountant you will be responsible for leading technically the general ledger and accounts payable staff, coordinating month-end closing activities and ensuring the completeness of monthly General Ledger recordings and reporting activities. You will own the delivery for the closing processes, while providing high quality, accurate, and timely financial data as well as reports to enable informed business decisions. In addition, you will drive audit or pre-audit tasks, compliance activities and other accounting related cross functional projects.

Base Salary: €45,000 -  €55,000

Job description

  • Technical leading of a AP team and provide guidance to AP team in issue resolutions
  • Group Monthly/Annual preparation of financial statements according to German GAAP (HGB) and prospectively IFRS
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
    • Month end & EOY closing process
    • Accounts Payable
    • Reconciliation A/R subledger with general ledger & Revenue recognition
    • Cash receipts
    • General ledger entries
    • Payroll
    • Cash Management & Cash forecasting
    • Fixed assets reconciliations
    • Inter-company transactions and reconciliations
    • Accruals & Provisions
    • Deferrals
    • BS – reconciliations & ensure high BS-quality
  • Ensure the correct procedure of closing processes (monthly, quarterly, yearly) on the highest quality and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Preparation of ad-hoc evaluations, handling of ad-hoc requests
  • Ensure that the business meets all Group and statutory business control requirements and policies
  • Optimization and further development of financial processes and systems (e.g. introduction of modules, software, accounting standards and/or ERP implementation)

Job requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, with further training/education qualifications are advantageous

Working experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant working experience
  • Experienced with accounting software tools, knowledge of accounting principles (German GAAP (HGB) & IFRS)


  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and preferably also in German.

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with other BI tools is a plus (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Relevant professional experience in finance & accounting (preparation of financial statements, audits etc.) and good knowledge of German & European VAT law
  • Experience in using an accounting and/or ERP system (e.g. Datev, Addison, Navision, Oracle, SAP, Sage)
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
